Thanks for all the wonderful and inspiring comments! I think change comes easier for me than it does for most because I moved around a lot as a child -- new homes, new towns, new schools. Later I changed careers and cities without much struggle. I do have a great desire to succeed at novel-writing and in order to do that, I'd like to stick with a single genre and ideally, with one series that continues indefinitely. A lot of that will depend on the next 9 months. I'll be back here at Jenny's blog next spring with an update. I want to be Made It Moments what Alec Baldwin is to Saturday Night Live. Thanks again, Jenny. Cheers, Doug

Wow. It's definitely inspirational to see someone change focus and continue to try new things - and SUCCEED!! Congrats to you - hope you keep on growing. And I'm putting your books on my wish list - I love that genre.

I enjoyed this post as well. I think main characters should evolve in a mystery series just as real people do in life. Best of luck with the new novel!

It's interesting that you've made such big life changes as you wrote the series so that you're in a much different situation for this next one. Good luck on the new direction!

I enjoyed this post, seeing how the author views his evolving characters and his evolving career. I 'm interested in reading his work - you've introduced me to a new Author, Jenny Milchman!
